Before you spend the money for the latest and greatest technology, buy the little brother, the D40 with a 18-55 mm lens for under $470. It has a sensor at least 15 times larger than the S5, so the resolution will be much higher. If you do move into the DSLR system, spend your money on lenses because as you know, you will want to change your camera body about every four or five years, but you will keep your lenses for decades. Sure it is worth the money if you want to learn how to use an adjustable camera.
