I really want a nice digital SLR camera. I can spend about $800. Does anyone own the Nikon D60? If you do, do you like it?
If you don’t, can you recommend something else in that price range? Thanks!

The D5000 has an articulated live-view screen, 12.5 mp resolution, dust-cleaning sensor, HD 720p movie capability, and several other great features.

I own a D60 camera and it is a wonderful small DSLR that you can carry around your neck for hours and not get tired taking pictures. Very often I use it with the kit lens 18-55mm zoom and the pictures are crisp and natural colors. I had pictures enlarged to 20″ X 24″ and they look great. Now that the new Nikon D5000 is out, the price of D60 will go down even further. I will keep my D60.

I normally don’t mind Nikon cameras, in fact I really like some of them!. But am I alone in thinking that the new D5000 looks just awful?. It is the ugliest DSLR I have ever seen!, it even makes the old Sigma SD range look nice.

Hmmm, D60 with extra lenses? or D5000? Neither have AF motors for older Nikkor lenses. D5000 does have RAW+Fine JPG though which is big move over the D60.
D5000 seems a better choice in my opinion, there are a USEFUL functions that the D60 doesn’t have. Liveview is a bit pointless in my opinion…
